Marrying in Cyprus

Sunny Days and Warm Nights

The Weather is the number 1 choice for future Brides and Grooms when considering which country to marry in. Cyprus has amazing weather and it rarely rains during the Wedding Season, so your pretty much guaranteed the Sun to be shining when you say “I Do”.

The Legal Stuff

Oh that mind field of legal paperwork, what do we need and will they accept them when we arrive? No need to worry as It’s fairly straight forward to legally marry in Cyprus, they accept English documents and do not need them to be translated to Greek, for a quick guide to what you will need click here

Budget Buster

You don’t have to have a huge bank balance or to be marrying a Prince to have your fairy-tale wedding in Cyprus, it’s very affordable compared to the UK with on average a wedding costing 8 10 thousand pounds for around 50 guests.

Location

“Location, Location, Location” your wedding venue choice is not limited here in Cyprus, the Island boasts a wide variety to offer you from beautiful beaches to stunning hilltop views with the majority of wedding venues situated in the Paphos area.

All going on a Summer Holiday

What a great way for you both to spend some quality time with those nearest and dearest to you. Larking around the hotel pool or going out and painting the town red, your guests can enjoy some of the hospitality Cyprus has to offer.

Talking my Language

You’re not required to swot up on a whole new language or carry around a Greek dictionary in order to plan your perfect day as almost all of the Island speaks English, especially the wedding planners as most of us are from the UK.

Honeymoon

Once the stress of the big day has subsided and all that’s left to do is enjoy being married, there are plenty of romantic spots in Cyprus for you to explore.

Top Tips to Ask your Planner

Confetti

Imagine you have just said the most important words in your life in front of your nearest and dearest and now you’re ready to take the walk down the aisle as husband and wife and your guests have forgotten to pack a tiny little box of confetti or have not purchased the bio degradable kind. Believe it or not this is a very common occurrence and can easily be rectified with your planner in advance.

Brunch for your Bridal Party

If you’re like me and get a little h angry sometimes, this is the last thing you will need on your wedding day. There are many questions I have been asked by brides the morning of their wedding and most of them are regarding food whilst they are getting ready. Plan ahead and book a Brunch for your Bridal party and enjoy a little relaxation before your beauty regime begins.

Save the Seats

You want your special guests to feel important on the day of your wedding so why not reserve them a seat so they are a little closer to you, when you say “ I Do”. This can be planned ahead of time with your Wedding planner.

Holding the Baby

You may wish for a quite night alone with your partner before or after your special day, or just a few hours to get ready with your Bridal Party with little distractions. You can choose to have a babysitter or a kids club to look after your little one for a few hours or the evening which your planner can arrange for you.

Grooming the Groom

It is very common for the Groom to want a traditional shave or a little trim at the last minute, I would highly recommend giving yourself a little less stress and book him an appointment in advance.

Sun Protection

It’s not a funny moment when you see your guests covered in sweat and wriggling in their seats and feeling that at any moment they will jump into the sea because it’s unbearably hot. Provide them with some shade or if you choose not to have umbrellas in your photos then I would recommend bottled water and fans to be placed on their seat.

Creases

You unpack your rather expensive Wedding Dress to discover there are more than a few wrinkles and your Husband to be wants you to Iron his shirt. Book a dress steaming service in advance and they can take care of all the creases for you and your bridal party.

Mobility

Don’t leave out the Guests with restricted mobility especially if there are a number of stairs involved; speak with your planner to arrange a suitable solution.

No Truer Word Spoken

There may be a certain special someone that would like to surprise you and read a romantic poem or say a few words at your ceremony. Ensure your guests make contact with your planner before hand as it would be a little uncomfortable if they were to stand up ad hock whilst signing the register.

The Bags

The moment has arrived when you and your bridal party are ready to be taken to your ceremony. All of a sudden you are rushing around to find your keys, lipstick, perfume, flip flops, deodorant, plasters and anything else you can think of. Then you discover it doesn’t all fit in your maid of honours handbag and then think who will hold all the bags whilst you’re having your photos taken. Of course your wedding planner will oblige and carry all the bags for you. Make it a little easier and less stressful and ask your wedding planner to place your essentials under your table before the ceremony begins.

Top Tips for your Wedding Venue

It’s that moment when you and your Fiance can start planning your perfect day, where do you start? If you’re anything like me I have already scrolled through the many websites and have a pretty fair idea of what dress I want to wear.

In fact it’s far easier to start with your venue choice. You want your Wedding Day to be absolutely perfect and reflect your individuality and style, that’s probably why you have chosen to say “I Do” in Cyprus amongst other reasons and of course the weather being top of the list.

Your Venue choice speaks as loud if not louder than your chosen bridal gown, so it’s as important to make sure your venue has all the personality and charm you could wish for. Here are some Top tips when choosing your venue.

Location

Think of the location, have you both dreamt of, a Ceremony on the beach with the sparkling sea around you, or romantic rolling hills with a breath taking view. Choosing the type of location will narrow your choices to make it far easier to decide.

Style

This step can have you going round in circles, shall we have a traditional setting or maybe a little more rustic, how about something more luxurious. The important thing to remember from all your choices is the style which is most Authentic to both your personalities.

Factors

Your budget will be discussed at this point and it’s important that you can try and achieve the wedding you have always wished for without a hefty cost. Most venues will have terms attached in order to marry and should be fairly simple for your wedding planner to advise you.

This is where it’s handy to know your expected amount of guests, you may find some venues are restricted on your party size or in fact may be more suited to a larger gathering.

Children become ever so important when making your decision, you want them to be safe and enjoy the experience. Consider the space and possible dangers at your chosen venue so you and your guests can relax and enjoy your special day.

Also consider the menu options at your chosen venue, you might already have in mind the cuisine you wish to serve your guests.

Top Tips for Choosing your Wedding Dress

This is probably the most exciting part of planning your wedding, with so many choices and latest trends available it’s a mind field of information to find the perfect dress. Whether your chosen style is Minimal, Halter neck, Gold & Metallic’s, Princess or Lace there are a few other factors to consider when marrying in Cyprus which you may have thought of already.

Climate

Certain dresses are more suited to the time of year your to marry. It goes without saying that the fuller Princess style dresses will be more suited to spring and autumn. Minimal and more fitted styles will be more adaptable in the summer months.

If you have chosen a fuller dress I would highly recommend a netted skirt with a hoop underneath, this will help you to walk more freely and avoid your dress getting caught around your legs. We want to look stunning on our Wedding day but nature can deliver unwanted gifts our way.

Firstly you can’t help but to perspire and certain patches occur where you don’t want them too, avoid going for a tight fitted dress or where a light fabric slip underneath. Your body will swell slightly in the heat, this is completely normal so allow yourself a little room.

Fabric

You don’t have to forgo the latest trends to be more comfortable, certain natural fabrics will help to keep you cooler during the day.

Think about the fabric and how easy it will travel in your suitcase or dress box, don’t worry if you have chosen a material that has a tendency to crease easily. You can have your dress steamed when you arrive in Cyprus.

Location

Think about the Venue you have chosen and where you will be taken for your intimate photos together. It can be a very disheartening feeling when you have a mountain of stairs to walk down to meet your Husband to be and your chosen style is fitted with a fishtail.

Sunsets are amazing here in Cyprus and your photographer will take you and your new husband away for a few romantic pictures. At this point elegance goes out the window, in order to get the perfect shot you may be asked to climb a few Rocks or walk along a Sandy Beach. This is when a very smart loop on your dress will come in handy; you can hook the back of your dress up and allow you to move around more freely.

You might be thinking “what a palaver, all that fuss for a sunset photo” but it will definitely be worthwhile, you’re photographs will be beautiful.
